Throughout college I worked as a bicycle mechanic and commuted by bicycle everywhere. I was involved within my community through various cycling advocacy committees and organizations. During my undergraduate studies, I worked for and with my university in creating their first bicycle report to establish cycling facilities, infrastructure, and education on campus. I spent time volunteering at a local bicycle cooperative/kitchen, and helped volunteer and organize many cycling events throughout Los Angeles.
Through my advocacy work within the community, I discovered a love and need to get more people on bicycles; to share the benefits of bicycling and the feasibility of commuting by bicycle. Today I still help out weekly at the local bike kitchen and love every minute of it.
